Key takeaway

The Tesla referral program pays the same in 2026 whether you order a Model Y, Model 3 or eligible Cybertruck: a 3-month FSD trial for the buyer and $250 USD / $325 CAD in credits for the referrer. What differs is eligibility — Model S and X are out, the entry Cybertruck is excluded, and the old per-model discounts are gone. Here is the full per-model table plus worked savings examples.

Tesla Model Y, Model 3 and Cybertruck lined up side by side with a referral benefit comparison overlay

No — the Tesla referral program is not different per model in 2026. Whether you order a Model Y, a Model 3 or an eligible Cybertruck through a referral link, the buyer gets the same thing (a 3-month Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial) and the referrer earns the same thing ($250 USD or $325 CAD in Tesla Credits). The only real per-model question is eligibility: Model S and Model X have dropped out of the program, and the entry Cybertruck trim is excluded.

People keep searching "tesla referral program model y" and "tesla referral code model 3" separately because the amounts used to differ by model. Through 2024 and 2025 Tesla ran different discounts for the Model 3, the Model Y, the Cybertruck and the Model S/X, and those old numbers are still floating around forums and YouTube. This guide gives you the current per-model picture, each model's eligibility history, and a worked savings example for every model on sale.

Tesla Referral Program by Model: 2026 Comparison Table

Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD (entry trim)No (loyalty only)Nothing via referralNothingNothing
Model S / Model XNo (removed 2026)Nothing via referralNothingNothing

Three things to read off that table:

  • The reward is flat across eligible models. A Model 3 referral and a Cybertruck referral pay the referrer the same $250 USD / $325 CAD.

  • New inventory counts, used does not. A new in-stock Model Y qualifies exactly like a custom order. A used or certified pre-owned vehicle never qualifies, whatever the model.

Tesla Referral Program: Model Y

The Model Y is the most-searched model for referral questions, and it has the simplest answer. We found no report of any current Model Y trim being excluded, including the refreshed "Juniper" body style, so all are expected to be eligible. Order through a valid link and the order summary should show the referral benefit before you pay.

Model Y eligibility history

  • 2024: Model Y referral discount of $1,000 USD off (August 2024 relaunch, and it stayed there through the November–December 2024 year-end push, when the $2,000 tier applied to Model S, Model X and Cybertruck), with the referrer earning $500 then $1,000 USD in credits.

  • January 2025: back to $1,000 USD off for buyers and $500 USD in credits for referrers.

  • Model Y Launch Series (early 2025): the first Juniper trim, the $59,990 Launch Series, was excluded from the referral program. Buyers who tried to apply a link to a Launch Series order reported it did not attach. When Tesla opened the regular Juniper trims (April 2025), those were eligible.

  • April 2025: the cash discount for Model 3 and Model Y buyers ended. Buyers began receiving a 3-month FSD (Supervised) trial instead, and the referrer credit dropped to $250 USD / $325 CAD.

  • November 2025: the referrer credit briefly doubled to $500 USD / $650 CAD when the buyer added FSD (no longer shown in the app as of September 2026).

Model Y worked savings example (US)

Say you are an eligible teacher ordering a new Model Y through a referral link in the United States:

ItemValue
Referral: 3 months of FSD (Supervised)About $297 USD (3 × $99/month subscription)
Everyday Heroes discount$500 USD off the price
Tesla lease credit (leases only, if still offered)$6,500 USD applied to the lease
Total if leasingAbout $7,300 USD in combined value

If you are buying rather than leasing, drop the lease credit and the stack is about $800 USD of value. The referral part stacks with Heroes; it does not stack with Tesla's loyalty credit for existing owners. See which Tesla discounts stack for the full matrix.

Model Y worked savings example (Canada)

A Canadian first responder ordering a Model Y through a link: the 3-month FSD trial (worth about $297 CAD at the $99/month Canadian subscription price) plus the $1,000 CAD Canadian Heroes discount, for roughly $1,300 CAD in combined value. If your province still has an active provincial or federal EVAP rebate, that is layered on separately. Our province-by-province guide covers the rebate side.

Tesla Referral Program: Model 3

Every Model 3 trim, including the Performance, should be eligible for the same referral benefit as the Model Y. We found no evidence that Tesla excludes the Model 3 Performance in the U.S. or Canada. As always, the test is whether the benefit appears on your order summary before you place the order.

Model 3 eligibility history

The Model 3 is the reason so many people search "tesla referral discount model 3" specifically. For a stretch it had the largest discount of any model:

  • Late 2024: Tesla stacked an extra Model 3 referral discount on top of the standard one, taking it to about $1,500 USD off in December 2024.

  • February 2025: the Model 3 referral discount rose to $2,500 USD while the Model Y sat at $1,000 USD.

  • April 2025 onward: same as the Model Y — no cash discount, 3-month FSD trial for the buyer, $250 USD / $325 CAD to the referrer.

If you see a page promising "$2,500 off a Model 3 with a referral code" in 2026, it is out of date.

Model 3 worked savings example

A U.S. buyer leasing a Model 3 through a referral link, with no Heroes eligibility: about $297 USD in FSD trial value plus the $6,500 USD lease credit, roughly $6,800 USD. A Canadian cash buyer with no Heroes eligibility gets the FSD trial alone, worth about $297 CAD, and the referrer earns $325 CAD.

Tesla Referral Program: Cybertruck

The Cybertruck is the one model where the trim you pick decides whether a referral link does anything.

  • Cybertruck Premium AWD and Cyberbeast: eligible. The buyer gets the 3-month FSD (Supervised) trial and the referrer earns the standard credit.

  • Cybertruck Dual Motor AWD (the entry truck, launched at $59,990 USD and $69,990 USD since March 1, 2026): not eligible for referral benefits. Tesla pulled it from the program in early 2026 as orders for that trim ramped up. It remains eligible for loyalty benefits for existing owners only.

Cybertruck eligibility history

  • 2024: Tesla added the Cybertruck to the referral program with a $1,000 USD buyer discount; in the November 2024 update, Canadian referrers could earn $1,300 CAD for a Cybertruck referral versus $650 CAD for other models.

  • April 2025: the referrer credit fell to $250 USD and the Cybertruck buyer benefit was cut (reports differ on whether it became a $250 USD discount or the FSD trial).

  • September 2025: Tesla quadrupled it back to $1,000 USD off for the Cybertruck, Model S and Model X, while the Model 3 and Model Y kept the FSD trial.

  • Early 2026: the entry Dual Motor AWD trim was removed from the program.

  • March 2026: the $1,000 USD Cybertruck discount was replaced with the 3-month FSD trial, bringing the Cybertruck in line with the Model 3 and Model Y.

Cybertruck worked savings example

A U.S. veteran ordering a Cybertruck Premium AWD through a link: about $297 USD of FSD trial plus the $500 USD Heroes discount, roughly $800 USD. The $6,500 lease credit is a Model 3 / Model Y offer; do not assume it applies to a Cybertruck lease unless Tesla's order page shows it.

Tesla Referral Program: Model S and Model X

If you are searching "tesla referral code model x," the short answer is that there is no longer a referral benefit for either flagship in North America.

  • Through 2024: Model S and Model X carried the standard referral discount ($1,000 USD off in the January 2025 reset, for example).

  • April 2025: the referrer credit fell to $250 USD and the S/X buyer benefit was cut (reports differ on whether it became a $250 USD discount or the FSD trial).

  • September 2025: raised to $1,000 USD off.

  • January 2026: Tesla announced that Model S and Model X production would end in the second quarter of 2026.

  • March 2026: both models were removed from the referral program, citing the production wind-down and limited remaining inventory. Loyalty benefits for existing owners remained, at a reduced amount.

Any Model S or X still in inventory today is sold without a referral benefit. If you are an existing owner, ask about the loyalty credit instead; referral and loyalty do not combine.

Why Model-Specific Referral Codes Do Not Exist

There is no such thing as a "Model Y referral code" or a "Cybertruck referral code." Every Tesla owner has one referral link, and it applies to whatever eligible product the buyer orders. What matters is that the link is active — Tesla caps referrals per owner at 10 order referrals per calendar year, and a capped link loads normally but attaches nothing to the order.

That is the failure mode behind most "my referral code didn't work on my Model Y" complaints. Our guide to finding and using a Tesla referral code explains the order-session mechanics; the short version is: open the link first, configure in the same session, and confirm the benefit is showing before you pay. If you don't have an owner to ask, our rotating referral link checks for an uncapped link before sending you to Tesla's order page, and how it works explains what happens behind the scenes.

Before you place a Model Y, Model 3 or Cybertruck order, grab a verified referral link from ReferATesla.ca so the FSD trial is on the order summary from the start.

FAQ

Is the Tesla referral program different for the Model Y and Model 3?

Is there a Tesla referral discount on the Model Y in 2026?

Not a cash discount. The Model Y's earlier cash referral discounts ended in April 2025. The current buyer benefit is the 3-month Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial.

Does the Tesla referral code work on the Cybertruck?

Yes for the Cybertruck Premium AWD and Cyberbeast, which get the 3-month FSD trial. The entry Dual Motor AWD Cybertruck is excluded from referral benefits.
