Tesla Discount for First Responders and Nurses: $500 USD or $1,000 CAD
Key takeaway
Tesla's first responder and healthcare discounts are categories in the Everyday Heroes program: $500 USD off in the U.S., $1,000 CAD in Canada. This guide names the roles Tesla lists, flags the gaps, and explains ID.me verification and referral stacking.
Last verified: October 27, 2026

The Tesla first responder discount is $500 USD off a new Tesla in the U.S. and $1,000 CAD off in Canada, and nurses, doctors and other medical providers now qualify under the same program. You verify through ID.me before ordering, and the discount stacks with a referral link.
There is no separate nurse discount, police discount or firefighter discount. They are all categories inside Tesla's Everyday Heroes program. This guide sets out which roles Tesla names in each country, what the terms say, where the wording is vague, and how to claim the discount without losing it. For every category in one place, see our Everyday Heroes discount hub.
Tesla First Responder Discount at a Glance
| United States | Canada | |
|---|---|---|
| Amount off a new Tesla | $500 USD (cut from $1,000 in October 2025) | $1,000 CAD (unchanged) |
| First responders | Police, firefighters, EMTs | Police, firefighters, paramedics and EMTs |
| Healthcare | Medical providers and nurses | Doctors and nurses |
| Verification | ID.me, before ordering | ID.me, before ordering |
| Stacks with a referral link | Yes | Yes |
| Vehicles | Model 3, Y, Cybertruck | Model 3, Y, Cybertruck |
Healthcare workers were added in October 2025 in both countries. Older pages that list only first responders, teachers and students are out of date.
Which First Responders Qualify
Tesla's program covers first responders, and the roles most sources list are:
Police officers. This is the answer to "tesla police discount" and "tesla law enforcement discount."
Firefighters. Covers the "tesla firefighter discount" search.
EMTs and paramedics. Covers "tesla emt discount." Tesla's U.S. wording names EMTs. Canadian coverage names paramedics and EMTs.
Beyond those three, the fine print is where things get uncertain. Tesla's page does not spell out whether dispatchers, corrections officers, search and rescue volunteers or retired responders qualify. Eligibility is decided by ID.me's first responder verification, so if your role is in a gray area, the practical test is whether ID.me will verify you. ID.me's own first responder list includes volunteer firefighters, corrections officers and 911 dispatchers, so those roles can often verify with documents, but we could not confirm Tesla applies it the same way.
Which Healthcare Workers Qualify
This is the part of the program with the least precise wording, so it helps to be exact about what is known.
U.S.: Tesla's announcement and page say "medical providers" and "nurses."
Canada: Tesla's Canadian page names "doctors" and "nurses."
So nurses and physicians are covered in both countries. What Tesla's pages do not define is whether the program extends to other hospital staff, such as pharmacists, respiratory therapists, personal support workers, lab technicians or administrative staff. The wording suggests licensed clinical providers, and ID.me's healthcare verification typically checks a professional license. Unlicensed hospital staff may not verify. Treat those roles as unconfirmed until ID.me accepts you.
Students in nursing or medical programs are handled through the student category, which has its own guide: Tesla student discount.
What About Military and Teachers
They sit in the same program and use the same ID.me process. If you also served, or teach, read our guides on the Tesla military discount and the Tesla teacher discount. Tesla allows only one affiliation per order, so you cannot claim two categories on the same car.
How ID.me Verification Works for First Responders and Healthcare
Open Tesla's "Made in America for Everyday Heroes" page (U.S.) or "For Everyday Canadian Heroes" page (Canada).
Choose your category (first responder or healthcare) and continue with ID.me.
Sign in or create an ID.me account and confirm your identity with a photo ID and a selfie.
Prove your profession. First responders may be asked for an employer email, a badge or ID card, or an employment document. Healthcare workers are typically checked against a professional license or employer records.
After approval you return to Tesla's Design Studio and the adjustment appears in your order price.
The order must be in the same name as the ID.me account. For troubleshooting, see our ID.me verification guide. In Canada, ID.me uses its Canadian community verification, which can accept different documents than the U.S. flow.
Eligible Vehicles and Order Types
Tesla's Heroes pages currently offer Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck in both countries; Model S and X are not offered on the page (production ended in Q2 2026). The discount is for new vehicles and is not redeemable for cash or transferable. Used vehicles are excluded.
We could not confirm from Tesla's wording whether the discount applies to new inventory units and leases in the same way as to custom-configured purchases. Check that the adjustment is visible on your exact vehicle and payment method before you pay. If it is not on the order page, it is not applied.
Timing and How to Claim It
Verify before you place the order. Tesla's page says ID.me verification is required before placing the order, and its fine print sets delivery as the outer deadline (same-day orders excepted) and says the offer cannot be applied retroactively.
Verify with ID.me first.
Open a referral link and start your order from it.
Configure and check out in the same browser session.
Confirm the discount and the referral benefit both show before paying.
Our how it works page walks through the referral side.
Stacking the First Responder or Healthcare Discount With a Referral
The Everyday Heroes discount and the Refer and Earn program are separate. Both can apply to one new-vehicle order.
| What you get | U.S. nurse or firefighter | Canadian nurse or paramedic |
|---|---|---|
| Everyday Heroes discount | $500 USD off | $1,000 CAD off |
| Referral benefit for the buyer | 3-month FSD (Supervised) trial | 3-month FSD (Supervised) trial |
| Referrer earns in Tesla Credits | $250 USD | $325 CAD |
The referrer's credit does not come out of your discount. Because referral links stop working when an owner reaches Tesla's cap, use a verified rotating referral link. For the full list of what combines with what, read our stacking guide. Referrals are aimed at first-time buyers, so buyers report that loyalty credit and a referral do not combine. Whether loyalty credit stacks with the Heroes amount is not confirmed by Tesla. Canadian buyers can also read the Canadian Heroes discount guide.
Why There Is No Separate Nurse, Police or Firefighter Discount
Searches such as "tesla nurse discount," "tesla healthcare discount," "tesla police discount" and "tesla first responders" all lead to one program. Tesla does not run a standalone offer for each profession. It runs one purchase program with several eligibility categories, worth the same amount in each country, and hands the verification to ID.me.
That has two practical consequences. First, the amount never depends on your job: a paramedic and a nurse in Canada each get $1,000 CAD, and a firefighter and a physician in the U.S. each get $500 USD. Second, the rules are shared. The same one-affiliation limit, the same no-cash-value rule, and the same requirement to verify before ordering apply to everyone.
U.S. and Canada Differences That Matter
Amount. Canada pays twice the U.S. figure in nominal terms, and the U.S. cut happened while Canada stayed put.
Wording. The U.S. page says "medical providers"; the Canadian page says "doctors." Neither spells out every hospital role.
Paramedics. Canada names paramedics explicitly; the U.S. wording names EMTs.
Referral credit. A Canadian referrer earns $325 CAD per delivered referral, against $250 USD in the U.S.
Tesla can change any of this without notice, which is why the order page is the final check on the day you buy.
Common Reasons a Claim Is Denied
Verified after ordering. The adjustment cannot be added later.
Name mismatch between the order and the ID.me account.
Role not accepted by ID.me. Administrative or support staff and some volunteers may fail verification, and Tesla does not name dispatchers.
Expired or missing license or employer proof. Healthcare verification usually needs a current license.
Two categories on one order. Only one affiliation is allowed.
Used vehicle. New only.
