Key takeaway

Tesla Canadian Heroes discount announcement, $1000 off for community heroes

Canada's version of Tesla's Everyday Heroes program gives eligible buyers $1,000 CAD off a new Tesla — and notably, Canada kept the full amount when Tesla cut the U.S. version from $1,000 to $500 in late 2025.

Here's who qualifies, how to verify, and what the discount can be combined with.

Quick Answer

  • Amount: $1,000 CAD off a new Tesla

  • Who: military members and veterans, first responders, educators, post-secondary students, and healthcare workers

  • Military: Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans, retirees, active-duty personnel and dependents, verified through ID.me

  • Verification: through ID.me, before you place the order

  • Stacks with referral: yes

Canada vs. the U.S.: Why the Amounts Differ

Tesla launched the Heroes discount in the U.S. first, then brought it to Canada. In late 2025 Tesla reduced the U.S. discount from $1,000 to $500 — but left the Canadian incentive unchanged at $1,000 CAD.

Eligibility is now closely aligned: Tesla's Canadian Heroes page lists military members, veterans and dependents alongside first responders, educators, students and healthcare workers. If you're ordering in the U.S., see our U.S. Everyday Heroes discount guide instead.

Who Qualifies in Canada?

  • First responders — firefighters, paramedics, EMTs, and law enforcement. Nurses and healthcare workers are covered in the Tesla first responder, nurse and healthcare worker discount guide.

  • Educators — teachers and educational staff at K–12 and post-secondary institutions. See the Tesla teacher discount guide.

  • Post-secondary students — college or university. See the Tesla student discount guide.

  • Healthcare workers — added in late 2025, when Tesla expanded the program in both Canada and the U.S.

  • Military — Canadian Armed Forces members, veterans and retirees, plus dependents who verify with their own NDI 20 or the member's NDI 75, CAF 74 or NDI 10. See the Tesla military and veteran discount guide.

Note: earlier versions of this guide said Canadian military members were excluded. Tesla's Canadian Heroes page lists them as of September 2026, and this guide was corrected accordingly.

How to Claim It

  1. Verify your eligibility through ID.me on Tesla's Canadian Heroes page: tesla.com/en_ca/canadian-heroes

  2. Receive your discount — once verified, the $1,000 CAD is deducted from your vehicle purchase price, pre-tax, and shows on the order page before you place the order.

Verify before you place the order. Tesla's terms say the discount cannot be applied retroactively, and the adjustment should show in your order price before you pay. For more detail, see how Tesla ID.me verification works.

What It Stacks With

The Heroes discount can be combined with Tesla's referral program, so eligible Canadian buyers can claim both:

  • Canadian Heroes Discount: $1,000 CAD off

  • Referral benefit: a 3-month Full Self-Driving (Supervised) trial after delivery

The person who referred you separately earns $325 CAD in Tesla Credits, plus $20 CAD for every FSD demo drive completed through their link (not currently available to Quebec residents). Credits can go toward Supercharging, software upgrades, accessories, service, or a future Tesla.

One caveat worth knowing: Tesla's referral program is aimed at first-time Tesla buyers, and existing owners have reported not being able to claim a loyalty credit and a referral benefit on the same order. If you already own a Tesla, expect it to be one or the other.

Because stacking rules change and enforcement varies, confirm what's actually showing on your order page before you pay.

See our full breakdown of which Tesla discounts stack for how this compares with loyalty credits and government rebates.

Order of Operations

  1. Verify with ID.me first, before configuring your vehicle.

  2. Start your order from a referral link — the referral attaches to the order session and can't be added afterward.

  3. Confirm both appear on the order page before submitting payment.

Referral links stop applying benefits once a referrer reaches Tesla's cap, which is why starting from a verified rotating referral link is the safer route — it routes you to an active referral before checkout.

Eligible Models

Tesla's Canadian Heroes page currently offers Model 3, Model Y and Cybertruck. Model S and Model X are no longer offered there after their production ended in 2026. Always check Tesla's official page for current eligibility, since program terms change without much notice.

Stacking With Government Rebates

Tesla's discounts are separate from government programs, so a provincial or federal rebate you qualify for isn't affected by using the Heroes discount or a referral link. See our Canada EV rebate guide for the federal EVAP program and its $50,000 price cap, and the province-by-province breakdown for what applies where you live.

Bottom Line

Canadian buyers currently get the better deal — $1,000 CAD versus $500 in the U.S. — and it stacks with a referral. Verify through ID.me first, start your order from an active referral link, and confirm both are applied before paying.
